Industry 4.0 is the inevitable next step for manufacturing facilities. However, making that transition is not a simple flip of a switch.

The Avnu Alliance, CC-Link Partner Association, ODVA, OPC Foundation, and PROFIBUS & PROFINET International have joined forces to produce a single conformity test plan for the IEEE/IEC 60802 Time Sensitive Networking (TSN) profile for Industrial Automation.

Avnu Alliance, an industry forum driving deterministic capabilities into open, standards-based networking, recently hosted an international plugfest in Boston, MA. Avnu members came together and tested their respective silicon platforms and products together. Tests included new additions to the TSN "toolbox" such as the recent revision to 802.1AS (IEEE 802.1AS-2020). Learnings and results are informing further development of Avnu test plans.

Avnu Alliance® announced globally-scaled testing capabilities and a comprehensive update of its certification testing procedures at newly authorized commercial test houses. This advanced global certification program will streamline certification testing of devices with Time Sensitive Networking (TSN) capabilities, including devices implementing the Milan™ network protocol (using TSN) for professional media, making testing easier and more convenient for Avnu members.

Base interoperability at the component level facilitates device interoperability across various applications and profiles, including IEEE/IEC 60802 for industrial and IEEE 802.1BA for ProAV, as well as future profiles that are in development.
