Windows 10 Cyber Hygiene Guide Published by Center for Internet Security

The Guide offers free, real-world security tips for implementing baseline security protections on computers running Windows 10.

The Center for Internet Security (CIS) has published the Microsoft Windows 10 Cyber Hygiene Guide. The Guide offers free, real-world security tips for implementing CIS Sub-Controls on computers running Windows 10. CIS Sub-Controls are a set of baseline cybersecurity protections that help defend organizations against data loss, theft, ransomware, phishing attacks, and so on.

Windows operating systems comprise more than 50 percent of global operating system usage, with Windows 10 accounting for most of that market share. CIS Controls Version 7.1 introduces Implementation Groups (IGs) that outline how companies can improve their cyber defenses using CIS Controls and Sub-Controls. Where possible, the Cyber Hygiene Guide recommends free and open source tools that help developers automate the security implementation process.

The latest version of CIS Controls, which lowers the barrier to entry for cyber hygiene, can be downloaded from https://learn.cisecurity.org/20-controls-download.

The Microsoft Windows 10 Cyber Hygiene Guide can be accessed at https://www.cisecurity.org/white-papers/cis-controls-microsoft-windows-10-cyber-hygiene-guide/.
