Microchip's maXTouch Touchscreen Controllers Improve User Experience

Microchip Technology's new family of single-chip maXTouch touchscreen controllers, MXT2912TD and MXT2113TD, addresses the design of modern automotive capacitive touch systems.
CHANDLER, AZ. Microchip Technology’s new family of single-chip maXTouch touchscreen controllers addresses the design of modern automotive capacitive touch systems and improves the touch interface performance for screens up to 20 inches.
The MXT2912TD-A has approximately 3,000 touch sensing nodes and the MXT2113TD-A supports more than 2,000 nodes, helping consumers experience the touchscreen user methods they are familiar with. They build upon Microchip’s prominent maXTouch touchscreen technology, offering greater signal-to-noise capability to satisfy requirements of thick lenses that support multiple finger taps even through thick gloves and in moist environments.
The MXT2912TD and MXT2113TD devices employ self- and sensor-diagnostic functions that continuously observe the touch system’s integrity, supporting the Automotive Safety Integrity Level (ASIL) classification index as defined by the ISO 26262 Functional Safety Specification for Passenger Vehicles.
