SEGGER announced that it is now operating a worldwide network of its J-Link Remote Servers, which allows users to debug target systems from anywhere.

Additionally, the servers are available to all J-Link users for free. Close servers will increase communication speeds, but users are provided the option to set up their own server(s).

Per the company, J-Link, which debugs embedded systems, can operate even when the target is thousands of miles away, even behind corporate firewalls. Further, SEGGER said developers will see almost no difference working remotely, as if the server and the target hardware were side-by-side.

The connection of the server is secure and based on the algorithm of the company’s cryptography library emCrypt. The authentication uses challenge-response methods to ensure the password is never visible and encrypts all data transfer.

Also an important note, the server is compatible with SEGGER’s line of flasher production programmers.
