Rohde & Schwarz Supports the UNH-IOL in Automotive Ethernet Testing Services for OPEN Alliance TC9 Test Specification
November 16, 2020
Test and measurement specialist Rohde & Schwarz extends its support to the University of New Hampshire Interoperability Laboratory (UNH-IOL) with an extension to their compliance test services.
The collaboration on an automotive test platform between Rohde & Schwarz and UNH-IOL is designed to benefit OEMs, Tier1s, Tier2s, and system integrators who want to submit their products for compliance test certification. Also per the company, the OPEN Alliance accredited test lab UNH-IOL has been in the forefront of developing automotive Ethernet testing since 2012. For these test services, the lab has a test bed including an R&S RTO2044 oscilloscope, enabling ECU vendors and OEMs to test their 100/1000BASE-T1 compliance testing, including physical layers (PHY), and electronic control units (ECU) based on TC8 OPEN Alliance test specifications in a single laboratory. With the current addition of an R&S ZNB8 4-port vector network analyzer, the test range has been expanded to include TC9 test specification, specifically cable and connectors that make up the link segment section.
Dr. Nik Dimitrakopoulos, Market Segment Manager Automotive at Rohde & Schwarz, stated: “With the final release of the TC9 test specification we want to provide our customers with confidence in verifying their cables and connectors. We are very happy to continue our partnership with UNH-IOL and assist them to extend their testing capabilities with our R&S ZNB VNA for cable, connector and link segment testing.”
Curtis Donahue, Senior Manager of Automotive Ethernet Technologies at UNH-IOL, stated: “We are excited about the recent addition of the R&S RTO2044 oscilloscope and R&S ZNB8 vector network analyzer to our automotive test bed. Our continued partnership with Rohde & Schwarz will help expand our testing services for 100/1000BASE-T1 solutions, for both silicon vendors and Tier1 automotive suppliers; as well as enable the IOL to offer test services for future automotive Ethernet technologies, such as the 10BASE-T1S PHY which is currently being developed in the IEEE.”
