Pepperl+Fuchs released the R2300 multi-layer scanner for 3-D object detection, offering high reliability and availability, even in demanding applications. The 58-mm-high device’s LiDAR measurement technology analyzes a total of four scan planes, generated by a rotating mirror inside the sensor housing, and can detect and measure the length, width, and height of objects.
The R2300 has an opening angle of 100°, and a measuring range of up to ten meters on bright objects and up to four meters on dark surfaces. The measuring rate is 50 kHz, with selectable scan rates of 12.5 Hz and 25 Hz at up to 4000 pixels per scan. The monitoring field can be customized by selectively hiding areas outside of the detection field, or by installing a second device, increasing the field of view to 180°.
Features include an angular resolution of 0.1°, and an integrated pilot laser. Pulse Ranging Technology enables a high degree of independence from object and surface properties, and a high level of resistance to interference from extraneous light, HF lamps, and optical reflections. The mechanical separation of emitter and receiver within the optical unit prevents optical short circuits that can occur if the front panel is dirty and part of the emitted light is directly reflected back onto the receiver element.
