Vision Research Launches Phantom T3610 and TMX 5010 Ultrahigh-Speed Cameras

Vision Research launched two models in its Ultrahigh-speed performance line of Phantom cameras. Featuring a CMOS sensor with back side illumination (BSI), the new T3610 and TMX 5010 cameras are designed to sustain their image throughput with light sensitivity for high frame rates and sub-microsecond exposures.

According to the company, one of the newest additions to the T-Series platform, the Phantom T3610, achieves higher frame rates of 38,040 frames per second (fps) at 1280 x 800 resolution and up to 875,000 fps at reduced resolution. T-Series benefits include a compact form factor and lower power requirements, enabling suitable portability and flexibility with tripods and other support.

The TMX 5010 joins the TMX 6410 and 7510 cameras as the entry point to the TMX family. Benefits include a higher RAM capacity up to 512 gigabytes (GB), a higher partition offering of 511 segments, standard 10Gb Ethernet with a rugged RJ45 port, and the ability to upgrade to higher throughput models at a later date.

Both the T3610 and TMX 5010 camera models include features designed to maximize image capture and workflow flexibility, including a 2x2 binned mode for higher vertical resolution at the camera’s top frame rates. Their BSI sensor technology also provides suitable sensitivity and sustained throughput by placing the photoactive surface above the circuitry. This design provides a direct route for photons and improves signal efficiency. Extreme Dynamic Range (EDR) is also included to capture detail in flashes and saturated highlights.
