Massive economic potential and demand for AI at the Edge require more compute resources than imaged just a few years ago. Because these compute platforms live at the Edge, where the data is received and decisions are executed, they are ideal targets for executing AI algorithms.  The response from embedded processor vendors has been integrating more DSP capabilities, adding extensions to traditional CPUs, enhancing their GPUs, or creating a whole new subset of processor type. And it’s up to the embedded systems engineers to design in this new technology.
