Semiconductor Revenues Fall 8.0%, per Semico IPI Report

According to Semico's Inflection Point Indicator (IPI) Report, semiconductor revenues fell 8.0% from June to July, but are still on pace for 3.3% growth in 2020.

According to Semico’s Inflection Point Indicator (IPI) Report, semiconductor revenues fell 8.0% from June to July, but are still on pace for 3.3% growth in 2020.

Despite the drop, compared to July 2019 revenues grew 5.0% in July 2020. The feat marks eight consecutive months of single-digit YoY percent increases.

"Our revenue forecast for 2020 is 3.3% growth, in line with the performance we have seen so far this year," says president of Semico Research Jim Feldhan, in a press release. "In order to achieve this forecast, the second half of 2020 must grow 0.9% compared to the first half. 3Q 2020 is forecast to grow 5.5%, while 4Q 2020 is expected to decline slightly by -1.3%. The third quarter forecast is lower than the prior 5-year average of 7.2%, and the fourth quarter is also lower than the 5-year average of 0.3% growth."

The IPI Report assists in forecasting semiconductor revenues about four quarters in advance.
