Star Lab's solutions conform to NIST 800-53 technical controls for federal information systems

Wind River has acquired Star Lab, a cybersecurity firm that offers system protection and anti-tamper toolsets for Linux and embedded systems. The company’s solutions conform to NIST 800-53 technical controls for federal information systems, and include:

  • Security Suite – Cybersecurity and anti-tamper capabilities for operationally-deployed Linux systems and distributions
  • Xen-based Embedded Hypervisor – Offers secure, open-source virtualization for embedded systems.
  • Secure Boot – Ensures that device firmware and boot code are legitimate and have not been modified or manipulated.

Star Lab is now a wholly owned subsidiary of Wind River, and will provide additional expertise to Wind River’s Security Center of Excellence. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
