Microchip is packing up in Chandler, Arizona and will start its trip to the RISC-V Summit in Santa Clara, California, November 7^th and 8^th, 2023, and November 6 being Member Day. Microchip will be demonstrating its market leading FPGA solutions for the intelligent edge and how it leverages the RISC-V ISA to design heterogenous processing architectures for non-proprietary instruction set architectures.

SiC technology is taking power electronics to new levels of efficiency and power density, solving key challenges as today’s global green initiatives transform entire industries including automotive, industrial, aerospace and defense.

The electrification of everything is driving the rapid adoption of SiC semiconductors that offer the fast-switching capabilities, lower power loss, and higher temperature performance necessary to help drive advancements in E-mobility, sustainability and industrial applications.

The trend toward higher bus voltages in Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) and Hybrid EV (HEV) electrical subsystems has created the need for a more robust circuit-protection strategy. Traditional electromechanical solutions raised concerns about reliability and a slow response to overload conditions, prompting designers to consider the faster and more reliable solid-state circuit-breaker (SSCB), or electronic fuse (E-Fuse), approach.

Wide-bandgap silicon carbide (SiC) semiconductors are steadily replacing their silicon predecessors in high-power applications like EVs and power electronics where silicon can no longer keep up. Without SiC technology it will be very difficult to electrify transportation, build out the charging infrastructure, or empower a more sustainable future.

Chandler, Arizona. Microchip released a new family, its PIC32CZ CA 32-bit microcontrollers, leveraging a 300 MHz Arm Cortex-M7 processor including an integrated Hardware Security Module (HSM). The family includes Microchip’s the PIC32CZ CA90 with an HSM or the PIC32CZ CA80 without the integrated HSM, both allowing for enhanced integration of security into applications.  

Chandler, Arizona. Microchip’s RT PolarFire FPGAs are now certified QML Class Q. Standard MIL-STD-883B for QML Class Q certification confirms the utilization and safety of microelectronic devices in military and aerospace applications. Testing of devices include assessments based on the harsh unexpected environments of defense and space. The achievement allows developers to integrate the RT PolarFire FPGA in applications easier than before.
