We have come to a point where the electronic design industry has finally accepted that wide-bandgap devices are available and cost-effective when deployed properly. Now the focus is shifting from the promise of Gallium Nitride (GaN) to the reality of the products enabled by it. Although available in the latest SMT packages, GaN-based devices are also available in legacy formats like TO-220 and TO-247.
