SMART Modular Launches its Rugged 3D TLC NAND-Based Solid State Drive

With up to 4TB of storage, SMART?s new HRS-T5E SSD leverages the latest technologies providing superior attributes in a highly ruggedized casing.

NEWARK, CA. SMART Modular Technologies, Inc., released the HRS-T5E 2.5" SATA SSD, a new addition to its SMART RUGGED product offering, providing read/write performance conducive for high throughput applications including flight data recorders, sensor data capture, high-reliability telemetry, surveillance, and other mission critical storage applications.

Offered up to 4TB capacities, the new 3D TLC NAND Flash storage solution is more reliable and uses less power and cooling in applications than traditional hard disk drives (HDDs).

The T5E can be aligned with a myriad of security features including:

  • SMART’s Security Data Elimination Technology (SDET) that satisfies current declassification standards
  • AES-XTS 256-bit encryption, protecting all data written to the drive
  • Meets MIL-STD-810G standard and can be configured for OPAL 2.0 compliance

"What makes the T5E unique versus the competition is that, from a configuration standpoint, it is very flexible," said SMART RUGGED’s GM, Mike Guzzo. "In addition to inclusion of our standard ruggedization features, this drive can be configured with an impressive list of optional security features, mil-erase sequences or other customer specific requirements."
