CAN in Automation (CiA) Launches SIC Transceivers for CAN FD

Carmakers will reference CiA 604-1 for new CAN FD connectable ECUs (electronic control units).

The next CAN generation, CAN FD, as specified in ISO 11898-1:2015, will be employed in future passenger cars. All market-leading automakers are making the switch from Classical CAN to CAN FD.

Recognizing this requires an improvement in CAN FD networks, CAN in Automation (CiA) has developed SIC (signal improvement capability) transceivers.

Commenting on the recent launch of the CiA 601-4 version 2.0, CiA’s Managing Director, Holger Zeltwanger said, “It is an important step for the automotive industry to use CAN FD also in hybrid topology networks at high bit-rates. SIC transceivers from several manufacturers will be available soon.”

Carmakers will rely on CiA 604-1 for new CAN FD connectable ECUs (electronic control units).
